Special Guest at Chamotte - Traditional Japanese Pottery Presentation
We're very excited to invite you to a very special evening at Chamotte!
Monday, 03.08, 17:00
Duration: approx. 3 hours
Free of charge (though we think it would be lovely if we all left Ken a small tip at the end to thank him for his time and generosity.)
We're hosting Kenichiro Watajima from Japan - a potter from Hasami, a town with over 400 years of porcelain tradition.
During the evening you'll experience:
a short introduction to Hasami and Ken's pottery journey
a live demonstration of traditional Japanese wheel throwing off the hump and the tools used in professional production pottery
an open conversation about ceramics over Japanese sweets brought by Ken
This is a unique opportunity to see a completely different approach to wheel throwing and to ask questions directly to a Japanese production potter.
Places are limited.
Chamotte Members have priority booking. We’d like to invite all people outside the Collective to join us - please sign up through the link below to join the guest list.
Ken is coming to Germany and giving this presentation as part of Croc’s efforts to inform about their artist/pottery residency programme in Japan. You can read more about their studio and the residency on their websites.
